I have a Columbia recording 12481-F with Herr Professor Shultzenheimer and his Zinzinnati Zimphonietta (I'm estimating 1940s era). I checked the Sutton pseudonym book and did not see anything. I have searched the web and OCLC with "Schultzenheimer" and "Shultzenheimer." Does anyone know if this is a pseudonym? The works on the recording are by Milton Pascal and Gerald Marks.
Many thanks, Diane |

Hi Diane,
Late reply here, sorry.. I sent your request to some other colleagues and received two replies: The first from Franz Lechleitner... QUOTE Judging to your information this must be a single sided record. If I look to the numerical numbering system it is a recording in a numerical block assigned to foreign recordings in German language. The very next recordings known to me belong to a numerical block assigned to the Austrian Empire covering recordings made in Vienna, Praha and Budapest starting in 1906 with 12500 and ending with 13499. So I believe that your record was recorded roughly at that time or it was recorded later, in the 40s, simply to fill up unused numbers of this very early foreign block. That’s the information I can supply. With kind regards, Franz Lechleitner ...and the second from Jörg Wyrschowy of the Deutsches Rundfunkarchiv (German National Broadcasting Archives)... QUOTE Dear Mr. Burke, thank you very much for your email from March, 24. Mrs. Leenings asked me to answer your question. I fear, my English is quite poor, but I will try to answer in English as good as I can. Unfortunately we do not know anything about Herr Professor Shultzenheimer / Schultzenheimer. There are no entries in our database and in our various reference books. He seems to be a sort of phantom - like a certain "Gerd Rubahn" we are looking for in connection with a Bruckner recording made in 1954. I am sorry that I could not be of further help. But if there are any questions, do not hesitate to contact me again. Yours sincerely I hope this is helpful. Does indeed seem to be mysterious.. Let me know if you have any follow-up questions. It sounds like both Franz and Jörg would be open to answering them. Thanks everyone! Brandon |
